We cannot help someone who isn't willing to help themselves. It is like trying to fill up bucket with a hole in it, and leaky buckets never get filled. Instead of depleting ourselves by helping those who refuse to help themselves or pushing people who don't want to move forward, we can love everyone as they are; pray for them; be the example they can follow, and possibly help them with our words of encouragement. When we focus our forward-moving energy on worthwhile endeavors, we produce even more goodness and power for ourselves and others. It is our right to help people, but we may need to ask ourselves, "Is helping this person the most helpful thing I can do?"
